# OttoCAM — End-User Licence Agreement and Privacy Notice

Version 1.0 — 5 September 2026
Applies to: pre-release (friends-and-family) builds of OttoCAM

In this document, "the Licensor" means Amygdaloid Studio, the publisher of OttoCAM.
"You" means the person who installs or uses the software. "OttoCAM" or "the Software"
means the OttoCAM desktop application, the CAM engine bundled inside it, and any update the
Licensor supplies for it.

By downloading, installing, or using OttoCAM you accept this Agreement. If you do not accept it,
do not install or use OttoCAM.

## 1. Licence

The Licensor grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install
and use OttoCAM on computers you own or control, for your own purposes, for as long as this
pre-release programme runs.

You may not redistribute, sell, sublicense, rent, lend, or publish the Software or any part of it,
and you may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except to the extent that
restriction cannot be enforced where you live.

OttoCAM is not open-source software. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.
Copyright © 2026 Amygdaloid Studio. Third-party components bundled with OttoCAM are licensed
separately under their own terms; their notices ship inside the application, in
licenses/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

Everything you make with OttoCAM — your parts, your projects, and the G-code it generates — is
yours. The Licensor claims no ownership of it and no rights over what you do with it.

## 2. Pre-release software

OttoCAM is pre-release software given to a small group of testers. It is incomplete, it changes
without notice, and it may stop working. Features may be removed. Project files saved by one
version may not open in a later one. The programme may end at any time. The Licensor is under no
obligation to provide support, updates, or continued availability of OttoCAM or of any service it
talks to.

## 3. No warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LICENSOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING
THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND
NON-INFRINGEMENT.

The Licensor does not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that
its output is correct, safe, or fit for any machine, material, tool, or part; or that any defect
will be corrected. OttoCAM checks the programs it generates before it writes them. Those checks
reduce the chance of a bad program reaching your machine. They are not a guarantee. They do not
model your machine, and they cannot see your workholding, your stock, your tooling, or your
fixturing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may
not apply to you.

## 4. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LICENSOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR: DAMAGE TO OR
DESTRUCTION OF MACHINERY, SPINDLES, TOOLING, WORKHOLDING, FIXTURES, WORKPIECES, STOCK, OR ANY
OTHER PROPERTY; PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH; OR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST TIME, BUSINESS
INTERRUPTION, OR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — ARISING
OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE, ITS OUTPUT, OR YOUR USE OF EITHER, WHETHER THE CLAIM IS
BROUGHT IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ON ANY OTHER BASIS, AND
EVEN IF THE LICENSOR HAS BEEN ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGE WAS POSSIBLE.

THE LICENSOR'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT
EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID THE LICENSOR FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS
BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (b) TEN US DOLLARS (USD $10). OttoCAM is currently supplied free of
charge, so for most testers that ceiling is USD $10.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or
limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by the Licensor's negligence, or
for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these
exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

## 5. You are responsible for the cut

CNC machines are dangerous. OttoCAM produces G-code. It does not run your machine, it does not
know your machine, and it cannot watch your machine. You alone are responsible for:

- reviewing every program before you run it, and doing a dry run above the stock where that is
  practical;
- your machine's configuration, travel limits, soft limits, and emergency stop;
- your workholding, stock, tooling, feeds, speeds, and depths of cut;
- guarding, eye protection, hearing protection, dust and fume extraction, and every other safety
  measure your machine and your material call for;
- staying with the machine and within reach of the emergency stop while it cuts.

Never leave a cut running unattended on the strength of OttoCAM's checks. Do not use OttoCAM in
any situation where a failure could cause injury, death, or serious damage without your own
independent verification and your own safeguards.

## 6. Privacy

OttoCAM runs on your computer and works offline. The core loop — open a part, plan it, generate
G-code — never needs a network, never needs an account, and sends nothing anywhere. Your parts,
your projects, and your G-code stay on your disk.

Three things do leave your computer, and only these:

### Anonymous usage analytics — off unless you turn them on

The first time you run OttoCAM it asks whether you want to share anonymous feature-use and
run-result events. Nothing is captured unless you answer yes. Declining keeps it off; dismissing the
prompt without answering also keeps it off and asks again next launch. When it is on, events go to
PostHog (posthog.com), which the Licensor uses as its analytics processor. Those events say which
features you used and whether a run succeeded or was refused. They never carry your part geometry,
your G-code, your file contents, or your file paths.

### Bug reports — sent only when you file one

If you use Report a bug in the app, or send a report from a refusal or a crash, the report
carries: what you typed, the OttoCAM version, your operating system and a hardware summary
(including your graphics adapter), the settings for the run (material, tool, offsets, machine,
origins), and the machine's verdict or the error and stack trace. Unless you untick it before
sending, it also carries a tail of the engine log. Your part geometry is NOT included unless you
tick "Attach the current project" — that box is off by default and nothing is gathered until you
tick it. Your email address is included only if you type one and tick the box beside it. Reports
go to the Licensor's feedback service at feedback.amygdaloidstudio.com, which files them into the
Licensor's own issue tracker. That tracker is private; reports filed from OttoCAM are not
published.

### Update checks

About half a minute after launch, and then every four hours, OttoCAM asks the release server
(ottocam-releases.t3.tigrisbucket.io) whether a newer version exists, and downloads it in the
background if one does. That request carries what any HTTPS request carries — your IP address and
the version you are on. It says nothing about your parts.

Nothing else leaves your computer. If OttoCAM has no network it keeps working; only these three
things stop.

## 7. Term and termination

This licence runs until it ends. It ends automatically if you breach this Agreement, and the
Licensor may end it at any time, for any reason, including at the end of the pre-release
programme. When it ends, stop using OttoCAM and delete it from your computers. Sections 3, 4, 5
and 8 survive termination.

## 8. General

### Changes to these terms

The Licensor may revise this document. The current version ships with each release of OttoCAM and
is linked from the download page. Installing or continuing to use a version of OttoCAM is
acceptance of the terms shipped with it.

### Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the Licensor has its principal
place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that
jurisdiction hear any dispute arising out of it — except that either party may seek injunctive
relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of
mandatory consumer law where you live.

### Entire agreement, severability, waiver

This Agreement is the whole agreement between you and the Licensor about OttoCAM and replaces
anything said or written before it. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in
force and that provision is narrowed to the least extent needed to make it enforceable. A failure
to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

### Assignment

You may not assign this Agreement. The Licensor may assign it in connection with a reorganisation,
merger, or sale of the business.

### Export

You may not use or export OttoCAM in violation of any applicable export control law.

## 9. Contact

Questions about these terms, or about what OttoCAM sends: use Report a bug in the app. It
reaches the Licensor, and a question travels on it as readily as a fault report.
